Smokey Purple Shibori Bow Tie

$150.00

100% Silk

This silk fabric was originally made for an Iromuji Kimono. Iromuji is a one- color kimono worn by both married and unmarried women. It may be worn as a formal wear when it has a single crest attached in the back. The fabric is woven with Shibori (tie-dye) technique on a smokey purple color base.

Shibori, comes from the Japanese verb root "shiboru", meaning, "to wring, squeeze, press". The pattern is made by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, compressing, dyeing, and then releasing the binding pressure to reveal the pattern that you see here. Due to the interesting weave and a slightly more coarse handle than our regular silk squares, it introduces an element of rustic texture that will pair especially well with tweeds and flannels. Also available as a Necktie and Pocket Square.
