100% Tsumugi Silk

This silk fabric is made from Tsumugi silk and has the exotic Karabana pattern dyed on it. Karabana is the term for imaginary flower, popular in China. Tsumugi silk originated with farmers who made use of cocoons left over after they had sold their best silk. They collected the floss from the cocoons, spun (tsumugi) it by hand into thread and weaved kimono for themselves.

Crafted in single limited batches, each tie is entirely hand-sewn. Dyed using stencils, the Karabana pattern is equally distributed throughout the fabric. This kimono fabric is exceptional and will stand out at any occasion. Also available as a Necktie and Bow Tie.

Available in Hand-Finished Baby Hem edges.

  • Origin of Fabric: Japan
